みなさんは嗅覚と記憶の関係性を知っているでしょうか？ある香りをかいで、それを例えば「ショートケーキ」という人がいる一方、「洋菓子屋の香り」という人もいるように、単にその香りのものを思い出すのに加えて、その香りを取り巻く情景をも思い巡らしたことはないでしょうか。もし何もない空間の空気から想像をめぐらしたら…。もしかすると、そのとき思い出された記憶や想像はその場所とは直接関係ないかもしれません。しかし、私たちは空気の中にはそのイメージを思い出すきっかけがあったのだと考えます。

目には見えないけれど、そこには誰かの記憶や想像が実は漂っているのかも知れません。
